Sari Kuterman

Sari is a research M.A. student in Public Policy at Tel Aviv University, supervised by Dr. Nechumi Yaffe. She brings a multidisciplinary academic background, holding a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management (with honors) from the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT), and an MBA from the College of Management Academic Studies.
Her research examines the gap between the stated aspiration for rest on the Sabbath and the lived practice of filling the day with intensive activity among secular and traditionally observant Jewish communities. Shari explores the hypothesis that the need for a “full Sabbath” may be driven by an underlying fear of loneliness and a sense of existential emptiness that becomes more salient when the pace of everyday life comes to a halt.
